I am extremely honored to share the small stage with the 11 other Barkley finishers, and I hope to do them proud. Touching that gate at the end of lap five was like touching the Mt. Katahdin or PCT terminus signs. So incredible.
This year:
Three 100 mile finishers (A Barkley First!):
Brett Maune (First Repeat Finisher!) : 52:03
Jared Campbell (Another Blazing Time!) : 56:00
John Fegyveresi : 59:41
...and yes. I cut it a little close.
There were also 6 fun-run finishers:
Alan Abbs
Beverly Anderson-Abbs (first woman since 2001)
Nick Hollon
Travis Wildeboer
Robert Youngren

I'll post a full report soon, once I've slept a bit. I did not sleep at all during the entire 60 hours.

Fantastic job, Lakewood. I'm looking forward to the honor of watching your tail-lights quickly disappear at Massanutten. :-)

Wow! Simply wow. Your cousin April told me about this. I am in awe. Having run my first ultra last September, Barkley seems absolutely impossible! Congrats!

Awesome Possum!!!!! I'm with Ultra Chris, can't wait to hear all the details, like how can you NOT sleep for 60hrs and keep moving, did you get lost, how was it running with Bev, what was the RD really like, what was happening on that last lap???????
Congrats! That is a great achievement!! Hope to see a bit of the race and the stories in the Barkley 2012 film: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/684009223/the-barkley-marathons-the-trail-that-eats-its-youn
That sure is beyond belief!! Great accomplishment!
Congrats on an incredible accomplishment! All that hard training paid off well. Looking forward to reading the details.
Congrats! You must be thrilled in a very exhausted sort of way.
When I saw that you were competing, I figured that you would probably do very well with your long hike experience. Looks like everything came together well.
Great, great work!
I don't think we've ever met, we may have some mutual friends, but I was rooting for you, as the few emails made it out of FHSP.
There was an email "a headlamp has been spotted" and my, I was so happy for you.
Can't wait to read the full report.
Congratulations!!!!
